GAP Engineering is able to provide a convertible casting machine for DC and Electromagnetic moulds. The concept will integrate all constraints of both casting systems.
The GAPCast casting machine is based on a concept involving moving parts that allow the operators to easily prepare the machine before the cast. Cleaning the machine after the cast is also very simple.
The utility beam holds all the required equipment for level control in the moulds as well as the preheating equipment for the down spouts. The utility beam can be removed from the casting car.
On the casting launder, there are no stepper motors and no metal level sensors installed (these are on the utility beam). The launder can be separated from the utility beam. One big advantage is that all electronic components on the beam can be removed from the launder, which is hot at the end of the cast.
The mould frame (DC and EMC) with the moulds is mounted on the casting car. To remove the ingots from the casting pit after the end of the cast, the casting car is moved away from the casting pit. Changing the moulds is easy, because the utility beam and the casting launder can be moved away (using the car as a transporter).
The stationary structure allows for hanging the utility beam and the channel, after which the casting car can be moved into its service position. With this configuration, it is very easy to prepare the casting unit for another cast or to allow for equipment maintenance.
